Message from the Headteacher

John Kesterton (Headteacher)

Welcome to the Brayton College website. The website is where the community, parents, students and staff  will find a growing range of learning tools and information. The college itself is currently about 840 strong and is a successful Specialist Technology College with a very positive recent Ofsted report which commented on the college's many good features and the improvements of recent years.

We have seen academic achievement rise to an all time high and new measures show great progress and compare well with many high performing schools locally and across the region.

Pink Ribbon Day 2009

pink_ribbon As part of the Student Council fund raising programme for Breast Cancer Awareness it has been agreed that students are allowed to wear "something pink" to school on October 22nd. Both male and female students are encouraged to participate - the cost for this privilige is £1.

Students may "dress down" appropriately with the understanding that less is more!

Pink hair is not permitted.

Money raised on the day will be divided equally between our chosen charity and Children in Need.

Supporting our Soldiers this Christmas
sos_logo_cornerBrayton College has again been asked to support this year's Support Our Soldiers Campaign to send christmas care packages to troops serving overseas in Afghanistan. Years 7, 9 10 and 11 will be asked to help support this campaign. This is the third year we have contributed and we hope to break last year's record.

One thing we would like to do in particular is look to support a unit that may have a relative of someone in college. If you know of someone who will be serving in Afghanistan over Christmas who may wish to be a ‘santa' for our care packages please contact Mr Mcdonald.

The deadline for boxes will be 20th November to allow for transport and distribution.

Wanted: Lets Grow Vouchers

Many thanks to all who sent in vouchers for the ‘Lets Grow' scheme last year.

Morrison's have re-launched the scheme this year and we would like your help to collect vouchers when shopping in one of their stores.

Your voucher contributions will help the college to increase it's gardening equipment, which we use in the "Green Club".

Thank you

Our results including Maths and English have also risen again with Maths, in particular, enjoying a 60% A*-C pass rate. Highest performing subjects included Music, Art at 93% and 88% respectively. Science, French and German all achieved 85% with another 5 subjects achieving above 70%. Top students included Miles Hobson (14A/A*), Hannah Wilson (12A/A*), Jessica Welburn, Steven Powell, Josh Holmes each with 11 A/A* and Matthew Ford, Charlotte Gaunt and Hannah Wall each with 10A/A*.

This is quite simply a fantastic achievement by students and staff alike. We can be proud of these results which mean that more students leave Brayton College with 5 good grades than ever before. Well done - One and All.
