Brayton College has again been asked to support this year's Support Our Soldiers Campaign to send christmas care packages to troops serving overseas in Afghanistan. Years 7, 9 10 and 11 will be asked to help support this campaign. This is the third year we have contributed and we hope to break last year's record.
One thing we would like to do in particular is look to support a unit that may have a relative of someone in college. If you know of someone who will be serving in Afghanistan over Christmas who may wish to be a ‘santa' for our care packages please contact Mr Mcdonald.
The deadline for boxes will be 20th November to allow for transport and distribution.
To make up your own parcel use a sturdy shoebox, ladies or gents size 6,7 or 8 are ideal. Weight limits are imposed so the filled box should weigh no more than 1.8kg. Every parcel is checked before sending out so please leave unsealed.
The key to filling a box is to keep the contents small and light - travel sizes or individual portion sizes are ideal. We recommend a selection of -
- Seasonal Goodies - Santa hat, selection box, mini Christmas cake, tube of sweets, tinsel, decorations
- Savoury Items - Nuts, crisps, snacks, pringles, oatcakes, rice cakes, savoury crackers
- Sweet Items - Cakes, biscuits, cereal bars, dried fruit, sweets, chocolate, lollies, mints, fruit pots, drinks sachets
- Toiletries - Wet wipes, shower gel, deodrant, talc, razors, shaving gel, tissues, toothpaste, lip salve
- Clothing - Socks, undies, t-shirts
