On Saturday 6th February it was an early start to the weekend for 17 Year 11 students who spent the day selling their wears at McArthur Glen Shopping centre in York. The day started at 8.30am when the 3 Brayton College Young Enterprise groups had to begin setting up their trade stalls. There was lots of creativity on display as each group got into the idea of promoting their product in the best possible way.
Customers began to arrive at the shopping centre at 10.00am and after initial nerves approaching strangers the Year 11 students soon got into the idea of Customer Service. We had Valentine chocolates being sold and student providing taster opportunities for potential customers; we had personalised tie dyed underwear being sold and students wearing these to promote the product; finally we had bracelets being made and sold. The students staffed their stalls for the whole day and eventually finished trading at 4pm. Despite being extremely tired everyone had a fantastic day - each group made lots of sales and had many happy customers. A huge thank you to the parents and staff that supported the students before and during the trade fair and a particular thank you to our 3 business advisors from Greencore that gave up their Saturday to support each of the groups.
