Welcome to our website. I hope you find the information within the website informative and stimulating.
We live our motto at Brayton High School - we strive for everyone to “be the best they can be” in all they do. We are committed to high standards in behaviour, uniform and the quality of Teaching and Learning. Students learn in a safe and secure environment – they are happy and want to achieve the best they can.
There are plenty of opportunities for students to grow and develop outside of the classroom. We have a thriving Duke of Edinburgh programme, run trips to France and Germany every year and have lots of lunchtime and after school clubs.
Brayton has achieved much over recent years:
- In 2009 we achieved the best ever examination results of any school EVER in the Selby area. We have been recognised by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust as one of the most improved schools in the country.
- This year we have been recognised by North Yorkshire County Council as a “Lead school for an aspect of Teaching and Learning”. This status recognises the hard work that all our teachers put into planning their lessons and marking students work. We help other local secondary schools to improve the quality of their lessons.
- We are in our 3rd phase as a Specialist Technology School. This means that we receive additional funds from Central Government to further raise standards across all subjects in the school.
Although we have achieved so much recently we are still improving and there are many exciting developments taking place at Brayton:
- This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the school – watch out for all the community events that will be taking place to celebrate this achievement, particularly our Autumn Fair.
- As we celebrate one achievement, we start to implement the many future improvements that are planned for the next phase in the life of this very vibrant and high achieving academic establishment to ensure we continue to provide the very best of education and life experiences for our students.
- From September 2010 the school will be re-named as Brayton High School. We will remain committed to providing the very best educational standards that we can and strive to ensure every student achieves “the best they can.”
- Also from September 2010 students will be wearing a new school uniform. The aspirational uniform will create a greater sense of pride in the school and will demonstrate a new phase in the development of Brayton High School.
Brayton High School is changing – I hope that after viewing our website you want to be part of the exciting developments.
